Term I

1. Course Description

The course is aimed at enabling the students to convincingly present themselves to their clients and to their colleagues, carry out the day-to-day business activities and achieve success in their career. As a skill-based course, it aims at instilling some of the interpersonal and organizational skills that they would need in order to establish their personal and corporate identity. It gives many opportunities for working individually as well as in groups. Students are trained in making individual as well as group presentations. This instills confidence in speaking before an audience. Inputs on Written Communication enable students to frame context-sensitive business documents including Letters, Reports, Minutes of the Meeting, and E-mails.

2. Student Learning Outcomes (typically 3-5 bullet points)

· Be able to impress others by one’s skilful use of nonverbal and verbal communication
· To develop awareness regarding the complexity of the Communication process in the ever-changing global business environment.
· To develop ability to make business presentations using appropriate technology.
· To develop effective writing skills to enable students to format, plan, write in a clear and concise manner various business documents.
· Be able to manage ordinary business situations

6. Academic Integrity

Any unfair means in examinations will invite heavy penalty. It may also invite an ‘F’ in the component/course.

Late comers to the class will not be given attendance. They may also be refrained from attending the class. Each absence from the class will make the student lose ONE grade point.
