1.6.1: The students will understand the basic Information Systems such as ‘The Strategic role of Info Systems’, ‘Classification of Info Systems’, ‘Building Information Systems’, ‘Decision Support Systems’ and ‘AI applications’.

1.6.2: The students will propose business process improvements through System Modeling Approaches for the proposed system in different domains.

2. Student Learning Outcomes:

On completion of the course participants will be able to:

· Appreciate the nuances of managing information technology, and anticipate the impact of IT on organizations
· Understand the strategic potential of information systems by understanding the critical role it plays internally (within the firm) and externally (while interacting with its customers and suppliers)
· Understand the roles of processes and routines in the context of information systems, and the transformational role an information system-led initiative can have in a firm’s future growth trajectory

5. Evaluation:

· Quiz (1) (Individual) : 30% (after 9 sessions)
· Individual Assignment : 10%
· End Term (Individual) : 30%
· Case Analysis and Presentation (Group) : 20% (continual)
· Class Participation (Individual) : 10% (continual)

A student needs to obtain a minimum of 30% in the individual component(s) to avoid F grade

6. Academic Integrity:

Students are expected to maintain ethical standards conforming to regulations as per the Student Manual of Procedures for MBA(BM) students, Xavier University.
Note:
· You are requested to check your audio/video communication before commencement of class: students will be randomly cold-called as part of CP exercise. Inability to respond spontaneously will result in loss of marks in CP
· A student has to be necessarily present for 90 min duration to qualify for attendance (as per Zoom attendance log)
· There will be no retest for Quiz/End-Term exams. In case of medical exigency or other extraordinary circumstances, retest will only be taken after due approval from Dean’s office. However, degree of difficulty of retest will be significantly higher (also negative marking will be higher in Quiz)
· HBS cases will be uploaded in the AIS and you are expected to download the same from AIS (do not share electronically)
· Evaluation Guidelines will be provided in detail separately and needs to be complied strictly (non-compliance may result in deduction of marks)
· Students will be provided supplementary articles for additional reading not provided in the textbook to keep them abreast of contemporary issues
