I. Introduction to the Course:

Before you start your journey of learning of accounting, it may be necessary to know that the accounting course you will be studying here is not different from what is taught to a professional accounting student. However, the focus is different. You will be taught to be an user of financial statements. You will not spend time on the mechanics of preparing the books of accounts. You will understand financial accounting as the process of converting business decisions into financial statement. You will understand the relationship between business decisions, financial transactions and financial statements. You may refer any book on accounting to understand the proceedings of the class. However, keep a watch on what is happening around you. You can see accounting everywhere.

By the end of this course you should be in a position to understand the financial statements of any company. Our focus is not book keeping but understanding the business decisions through financial statements.
