1. Course Description

Commercial Banking is a comprehensive study of commercial banks and their role in the economy. The course emphasizes the practical application of business and economic principles as they relate to bank management and regulatory policy. The material is presented from the perspective of both bank management, and regulator in order to provide an overview of the interrelated operations of a banking organization, enhance the participant’s appreciation for the complex issues senior bank management faces so as to enable the participants to make informed decisions relating to the Banking Sector in India.

ü Be able to ….learn the recent developments in the banking industry and provide a total organizational viewpoint on the management of Banks.

ü Be able to… Determine the effects of management decisions on capital, earnings, and the balance sheet framework interconnected to banking business.

The minimum pass mark is 30%.

Group assignment will involve answering a question/ critical analysis of issues. It will be evaluated on the basis of group presentation made. In addition to the presentation, the students need to submit a 10 page report in support of their presentation. The quiz will be of MCQ type with negative marks and end-term would test the conceptual clarity and understanding of the subject and will cover the entire course.

6. Academic Integrity

· Academic Integrity will be adhered as per the norms and policy given by the Institute. In case of group assignment, all members of the group should contribute to the preparation of the report and you are expected to write down the report without plagiarism.
