1. Course Description:
Labour laws are the backbone for the human resource management, as they encompass the core functions under human resource management i.e. recruitment, selection, training, performance appraisal, compensation management, ensuring smooth labour relations, safety & welfare and health concerns of labour. Therefore it is imperative that every HR Manager must have necessary knowledge of labour legislations, so that he /she can ensure smooth functioning of the organization by minimizing and managing the conflict between labour and capital to ensure organizational growth and profit.

This module seeks to explain the genesis of labour legislations in India and develop the conceptual perspective on legislations relating to wages, contract labour, apprentices, worker’s health and safety and benefits.

2. Student Learning Outcomes:

The course will empower the students with knowledge base and skill-sets:
# Develop conceptual perspective on application of Labour Law as a tool of HRM
# Understand the key provisions of labour legislation which affect businesses.
# Be able to apply the concepts to hypothetical problems.
