1. Course Description
A well planned, positioned and executed piece of communication whether written or oral, face to face or virtual, can contribute a lot to the effective functioning of teams and of an organization. With increasing dependency on technology and the ever increasing reliance on mediated communication, it is important for any modern manager to think logically, write effectively, present himself efficiently and speak unambiguously.

The main objective of this course is to enhance the ability of budding managers to comprehend demands, define objectives, apprehend contingencies and frame solutions to any communication situation. The aim in these sessions will be to develop an appreciation and understanding of the importance of oral and written communication, while examining the range of communication tools and options available for managers.

Activities will be both individual and group-based, which will aid accommodation and appreciation of others at a meso- level and macro-level. This will help a careful and planned decision while communicating with various stakeholders.

2. Student Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, students would ideally :

· Analyze requirements of communication and be confident speakers with application of the right verbal and non-verbal skills
· Apply suitable objectives and tools for organizational communication, craft messages and learn about suitable delivery through oral and written media.
· Understand fundamentals of technology and use it aptly in business presentations.
· Lay a foundation for career growth through self-evaluation and powerful communication.

Students are required to read the recommended book and study material as required before any discussion or participatory session. Healthy participation in assignments and discussions is expected and these will contribute to components of evaluation. Pre-reading of material provided and as directed is desired to help us construct a facilitative classroom environment.

100% class attendance is advisable. Copying in the exams and /or plagiarism of any kind will invite harsh penalties.
