2. Course Credit: This is a 2 credit core course for 100 marks over 13 sessions. Therefore, there would be 20 hours of classroom contact with the facilitator.
3. Course Description: This course provides in depth understanding on various issues pertaining to designing an effective organization. The participants would become aware about the practical applicability of the principles concerning the structuring of contemporary organizations in a complex, dynamic, uncertain and competitive environment. The course is intended to provide a broad based practical understanding to the participants in order to help them examine the effects of both internal and external factors that affect managerial choices for structuring the organizations.
4. Course Aims: This course aims to achieve the following for the participants:

Generating awareness about the importance of organizational structure and design on internal organizational processes and overall effectiveness.
·
Understand the relationships between organization structure and the behavior of those who work in them or otherwise interact with them.
5. Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
1. Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of organization structure and design.
2. Develop skills for understanding the impact of environment, strategy, technology, and organizational size on organizational and inter-organizational relationships.
3. Demonstrate analytical skills in linking design/structure to performance.
4. Develop awareness of the decision making hierarchies, bureaucracy, power and politics.
5. Solve organizational design problems with respect to global business strategies and practices.
6. Course Andragogy: Instructional methods for this course have been designed keeping in mind adult learning requirements. This course would be delivered primarily through lectures by the instructor. Structured activities would be facilitated wherein the participants would be required to actively involve themselves for enhanced learning and experience. Case studies and assigned readings would be an integral part of this course.

9. Course Evaluations:
This course is offered for residential candidates. Therefore, NO MAKE-UP POLICY will be applicable for all participants. Hence, all participants are advised not to miss any evaluation components.
Participants would be evaluated based on the following components making a total of 100 marks
1. Mid Term Exam (25 marks)
2. Take Home Case Study (35 marks)
3. End Term Exam (40 marks)
The
Mid Term Exam
would be conducted on the stipulated date notified by Dean Acad Office.
This would be a ‘multiple choice question’ exam wherein the participants would be required to select single option as their choice of correct answer. This would be a closed book, closed note exam. All questions would be from the assigned textbook and reading materials given in the class. There would be 25 questions with no negative marking.
The
Take Home Case Study
would be provided by the Instructor to all participants along with the case questions. The participants would be required to submit their analysis individually in type written,
hard copy format
within the stipulated date mutually agreed in the class. Each written evaluation of the case analysis would be based on the following parameters:
1. Ability to identify the problem/issue
2. Justification for the arguments
3. Sustainability of the solutions offered
4. Quality of the written report
Participants are advised not to copy their analysis from any source. Any form of copying without proper citation would be construed as academic dishonesty and the participant would be disqualified from the evaluation component leading to assigning of Zero marks for that component. No negotiation will be undertaken in this regard.
The
End Term Exam
examination would be a comprehensive examination covering the entire course content. The exam will consist of application oriented questions with limited assigned space in the question-cum-answer booklet. This exam will be closed book for all participants.
10. Grading Pattern: The course will follow the grading pattern as approved and circulated by Dean Acad Office from time to time. Participants are advised to perform in accordance with their targeted grade for this course.
