COURSE OUTLINE

Introduction:
The Economic Environment of an Economy is characterized by interacting among systems, firms, the Government and other market forces both domestic and international. Some of these interactions are determined largely by the existing market structure while others are influenced to a great extent by Government reformulation or properly right and public policy. Economic decisions in general and strategies in particular are moulded by the Economic Environment. Those external factors like the economic, political / regulator, social, technological and natural factors which make-up the opportunities for and threats to business and internal factors like resources. Capabilities and good will of the organization, internal and power relationship etc. which decides the strength and weaknesses of a firm. A thorough understanding of the Economic environment therefore is a pre-requisite for making any strategic decision. Indeed formulation of strategy is sometimes defined as establishing a proper firm environment.

Course Objective: T
he objective of the course is to help students to develop an understanding of the complex environmental factors and the Government policies regulating the economic environment. These environmental factors and the regulatory framework broadly define the opportunity available to the firm and the constraints under which it has to operate in the context of liberal Economy.
