It is important to understand the existing and potential rural production system in order to develop and strengthen the livelihood system in villages. Both production and livelihood system for villagers are interrelated and should complement each other. Like any other system, these systems too affect and get affected by both internal and external factors. To manage the system well we also need to understand the type and level of such influences. Understanding livelihood, various elements, and different approaches of livelihood analysis is required for a rural manager to put the same in practice.
