A R&D out put? 2) Why is it that you still need in India foreign collaborations for producing anything from a pair of shoes to Chocolates to guns to- you name it? 3) Why is it that over 3000 years of recorded human history – not a single invention that changed the course off human life on this planet has been credited to India or an Indian? 4) Why have the scores of CSIR and other research labs and thousands of scientists working there, have not been able to enable India to produce even mundane house hold goods without seeking foreign collaborations? 5) Why do you think, while India has over 10% share in scientific publications world wide, its share of ‘global patent filing’ is less that 0.1% and that of Global Technology Market is non-existent? 6) When we do buy ‘Technology” from overseas to set up business in India- what exactly do we get in hand? 7) Do you understand the short- medium and long term monetary benefits of ‘technology ownership’ on business? 8) What do you think is the greatest challenge for technology creators world wide – money/ infrastructure/ human resource/ leadership/management / vision/ ideology/objective? 9) Do you understand the intricacies of financial budgeting, accounting, costing and pricing aspects of technology which, for creation, acquisition, installation and operation, could involve making provision for hundreds and thousands of Crores of Rupees spread over decades? 10) Are you familiar with Technology Audit and its emerging importance in corporate governance in India? 11) When do you think a technology becomes ‘obsolete’ and then what do you do with in? 12) Can you recognize and distinguish in Human Resource the traits of Innovation, Creativity and Executive qualities? 13) Are you aware what it takes to managing innovative and creative human resource over years on to deliver high quality intellectual output in the face of repeated failures and heart breaks – a hall mark of Technology Development exercise, world wide? 14) Are you confident that you can lead a team of say 1500 top class scientists and engineers and control an expenditure of say Rs 1500cr to develop the technology for a say, a family car for 2020 and beyond ? 15) Are you interested in working for the next generation Indian and global corporate who are planning to invest billions of Rs.
