Faculty Name Prof.Sasmit Patra
ProgramPGDM- HRM
Academic Year and Term 2012-13, Term-VI

1. Course Description
Leadership is a construct which develops due to several functions acting upon it. These functions arise from several interventions and initiatives. Coaching and mentoring are two such functions which are organizational interventions for improving the individual as well as team performance for enhancing the organizational productivity and efficiency. This course envisages delving into the various aspects of Coaching and Mentoring beyond the conventional norms by focusing on applied areas of these two interventions. It would then derive the factors for building and improving leadership from the Coaching and Mentoring processes and finally integrate both these interventions with leadership forming a model which would showcase the strength of both these interventions beyond their conventional roles in building, nurturing and fostering leadership.

2. Student Learning Outcomes (typically 3-5 bullet points)

· Be able to understand Coaching and Mentoring and its various facets BEYOND the normal conventions attached to these two interventions.
· Be able to appreciate the various levels of Leadership and its models and the linkages of coaching and mentoring with leadership.
· Be able to draw an insight and understand how the two interventions finally inter-play to build and enhance leadership.
