1. Course Description
1. To convey the right message: The main objective of communication is to convey the right message to the person for whom it is meant.
2. To introduce students to the basic principles, theories and practices of oral communication as practiced in different contexts of organizations.
3. To enhance the basic skills and develop poise and confidence in public speaking and in presentations.
4. To refute and defend ideas in an assertive rather than an aggressive manner.
2. Student Learning Outcomes
· be able to learn the professional communication skills required in a business organization and acquire a clear understanding of the nature and scope of business and managerial communication.
· be able to acquire awareness of one’s own speech habits and characteristics in order to increase one’s confidence and improve posture, voice, diction and other mechanics of speech.
· be able to diagnose reasons why their communication efforts failed, when they did, and apply suitable remedies.
· be able to demonstrate competence in oral and interpersonal communication such as one-on-one communication, small-group communication, and in presentations.
· be able to acquire confidence and become more assertive in dealing with the varied activities associated with their business.

5. Evaluation (continuous assessment as well as end-term exam)

6. Academic Integrity

1. Students should attend all the sessions, except in the case of illness and/or extenuating circumstances. Written explanation is expected from the students for the missed session. However, no role plays (practical sessions) will be repeated for the benefit of the absentees.
2. Students are expected to display their honesty in completing their course successfully. Failing in the following will be treated with serious consequences:
· Copying from another student’s paper/records.
· Collaboration with another student during the examination/tests.
· Substituting for another person in the class or in an examination or in class group presentations.
· Duplicity of any kind in the assignments or home task.
· Plagiarism: incorporating others’ works without acknowledgement or references.
3. Group evaluation will highly depend on the participation of each member of the group.
