COURSE OUTLINE


OBJECTIVES:

Financial Inter-mediation is one of the crucial dimensions of the rural households’ production and livelihood system. Accordingly, a sound system of institutions and instruments of rural financial inter-mediation becomes essential for promoting rural livelihood. This course is intended to give a clear understanding of the needs for financial services of rural people, the various approaches, methodologies and institutions operating in this field. The specific objectives are:

To help students understand various design and managerial aspects of rural financial institutions/programmes;

To enable students to understand the need and the critical elements of evolving effective and sustainable rural financial delivery mechanisms
