Course Outline
1. Course Overview: Human behavior in organizations is complex and a difficult phenomenon to comprehend. Understanding why people behave in a particular way in a work setting irrespective of the type of organization, would be the main focus of this course. Organization behavior is all about knowing the reasons behind people’s behavior in organizational setting.

2. Course Objectives: This course aims to improve ones understanding of human behavior in organizations and ones ability to lead people to achieve organizational objectives more effectively. The participants will acquire functional knowledge on organizational behavior for application in real-life managerial settings.

3. Andragogy: There will be 20 sessions of 90 minutes each for this course giving it a value of 3 credits. This course will be delivered in a workshop mode with emphasis on acquiring practical skills relevant for managerial execution. Therefore, management skill builders, management exercises, role plays, case studies, and movies will be the main elements of course delivery. This will be supplemented with Instructor assigned readings and case studies. All the participants would be made to work in groups for all classes and assignments. Apart from these, the participants will also have to take up group project work through field visits.

4. Evaluation Scheme: The main aim of evaluation will be to assess the capacity of the participants to apply the learnt skills. We will follow NO MAKE-UP POLICY for this course. So, any individual or a group missing any evaluation components will not be given another chance to appear for the same. In order to achieve this aim the following evaluation components will be adopted:

Demonstration of Learning Presentations (DLP)
20This would comprise of a class presentation for every group demonstrating their learning from skill builders and exercises.Each group would be assigned specific dates during the term.
Socially Relevant Projects (SRP)
40Every group would be required to execute field projects wherein they will undertake social activities aimed to make a difference in the lives of the people belonging to the chosen field. The evaluation will be primarily based on:
1) how well the groups could make a difference in the lives of the people of the chosen field
2) Sustainability of the project in near future, and
3) Demonstration of learning.
    Every group will have to submit a hard copy of their report not exceeding 10 pages in Times New Roman font 10 with 1 inch margin on all 4 sides to the instructor at least 7 days before the assigned presentation date.
    Last 2 sessions will be utilized for SRP presentations.

    Each group will get a maximum of 15 minutes for presentation
    (Groups exceeding this time limit will be penalized).
    End Term Exam
    40At the end of the course a comprehensive examination will be conducted comprising the entire course covered in the term. The aim of this exam will be to assess the development of application skills from the course.Will be conducted at the end of the term after notification from the Dean (Acad.) Office

    About Dr. Andrew Dutta: Andrew is a Post Graduate in Business Finance from University of Calcutta and he was awarded a Gold Medal for ranking first in the University and academic excellence. He completed his FPM from IIMT, specializing in Human Resource Management. Andrew was a Visiting Research Scholar to Bentley College, Massachusetts, USA where he developed his doctoral thesis in Information Systems under Dr. M. Lynne Markus. Before joining academics, Andrew worked in the advertising industry. He has publications in reputed national and international journals and edited books along with presentations in national and international conferences. Apart from teaching, Andrew is also involved in training in corporate and Government sector and providing consultancy through XIMB. Presently, he is the Area Coordinator for OB-HR area in XIMB.
