1. Course Description

A comprehensive course that covers aspects related to competency based HRM. This course will develop the personal competence of the student to design various interventions to build a competency based organization. The exercises and tools will be designed to make it simple and easy for students to understand the concepts and apply it practically in future at their respective workplaces.

After attending the course the student will be able to:

5. Evaluation
o Semester exam (40% Weightage)
o Quiz and class participation (10% Weightage)
o Project work – Group (25% Weightage)
o Individual submission (25% Weightage)

There would be Special Evaluations at the end of 5th, 8th, 16th and 20th session out of 15 marks and those scoring below 10 would received negative 3 marks to be deducted from the final total out of 100 while deciding grades for this course. A score above 10 will however not be added to the total marks of 100. This special evaluation is only for quality assurance purpose from the students.

6. Academic Integrity

Students subscribing to this course will be bound by the Academic Policy as specified in the Student Manual of XIMB for the Part Time program. For all in-class and evaluation purposes, the decision of the course instructor will be binding and final on every student. Every Student for this course must conduct their studies honestly, ethically and in accordance with generally accepted standards of academic conduct. Any form of academic misconduct is unacceptable. If some students are found to engage deliberately in academic misconduct, with intent to deceive it would be construed as pre-mediated form of cheating and would attract the highest penalty of grade withholding.

About the Instructors

A. Dutta M.Com., PhD. is a Post Graduate in Business Finance from University of Calcutta and was awarded a Gold Medal for ranking first in the University and academic excellence. He completed his FPM from IIMT, specializing in Human Resource Management. Andrew was a Visiting Research Scholar to Bentley University, Massachusetts, USA where he developed his doctoral thesis in Information Systems under Dr. M. Lynne Markus. Before joining academics, Andrew worked in the advertising industry. He has publications in reputed national and international journals and edited books along with presentations in national and international conferences. Apart from teaching and research, Andrew is also involved in training in corporate and Government sector and providing consultancy through XIMB. Presently, he is the Admissions Coordinator in XIMB. He has conducted training programs for senior management level in companies like Vedanta Aluminium, Paradeep Phosphates, Infosys, NTPC, OTDC, CIFA, RWSS, Jindal Steel and Power Limited, Larsen and Toubro, NALCO, JK Organization (EZ) India Post and many others. He is also a Certified Assessment Center Assessor, Certified PCMM Assessor and Master Trainer for NACO-GFATM for HIV-AIDS counselors and Master Trainer for Dept. of Public Enterprises, Govt. of India for CSR training.

Jasmine Parekh has HR Experience with diverse industries and her qualifications include a full time MBA in HR and Executive Diploma in HRM from XLRI. She has been among the top students in academics and also identified as a high performer in HR department in previous engagements. She has experience in Recruitment Management, Conducting and Managing Assessment Centers independently, Competency Mapping, Performance Management System, Balance Scorecard, Job Analysis, Group level MIS, Job Family Modeling, Salary Reviews, Employee Engagement, Talent Management. Professional experience was gathered with Tata Consulting Services, Emmay HR, Limitless and Al Tayer Group. In addition to the HR projects she worked on for Asian Paints and Watson Wyatt , she has worked on a research paper ‘Impact of P-J fit and Comparison of Job Characteristic Model & Holland RIASEC approach’ which is submitted for publishing. She has also taken a session on Creative Problem Solving at EDI, Ahmedabad.
Role at TVRLS: Jasmine is presently a consultant with TVRLS. At TVRLS, she has been involved in core HRD initiatives such as Performance Management Systems,Balance Scorecard, Diagnostic Study, Competency Mapping, Assessment Development Centers (Designing Tools and implementing ADCs), Assessor’s Training, and Behavior Event Interviewing. She draws her expertise from his previous engagements in IT, ITES, Logistics, Automobile and Real Estate Development, Consulting industries.

She has been actively involved with clients like LIC, Zuari Industries Ltd, Paradeep Phosphates Ltd, Bhagwati Group, Anatech Insights, Mahindra Retail, Sesa Goa and SJVN.
