Course Description:
The course aims at establishing the foundations required to manage information technology and systems in a business environment. Enhancing decision making with regard to IS deployment and some specific directions for exploitation of IS/IT resources/applications will be of special importance. The course will be based on conceptual treatise as well as practice/presentation sessions, which will help you to get the best out of your IT infrastructure. Some of the approaches pursued by organizations for effective Information Systems Planning will also be looked into.

· Understanding the role of information systems in an organization · Understanding successful deployment of information systems · The interdependence of information systems and the organization

· Fundamentals of Information Systems · Information Technology Infrastructure · Information Technology Organization · Developing Information Systems · Databases and Information Management · Telecommunications, Internet and Wireless Technology · Securing Information Systems · Ethical and Social Issues in Information Systems Group Presentations and Reports: There will be at least 1 presentation for each group. The reports for presentations should be submitted in soft copies too. Your presentation should summarize your team’s work and findings and involve the class in discussion. All team members should participate. Group presentation reports should have the group no. and the group members’ names on the title page. In grading presentations and reports, we will look for originality, presentation style, ability to generate a class discussion, enthusiasm, and the demonstration of a clear understanding of the management information systems concepts in the team findings. The rest of the class will come fully prepared to participate in the discussions and contribute to the learning process. Examinations: There will be group presentation, discussions, and end-term examination.
