Course objectives:

To familiarise the students with principal laws regulating business

To enable the students to interpret various legal provisions regulating business and learn how to apply them through an exposure to case made laws.

To equip the student with minimum legal framework for starting a business venture and running it successfully in conformity with legal parameters.

Pedagogy: Provisions of the Act will be discussed placing emphasis on rationale and judicial interpretation and their consequent impact on business. Less emphasis will be placed on procedural part. All discussions will be supplemented by mini-cases wherever necessary.

Classes will be mainly through lectures and analyzing Cases.

                Portion for End-Term: All the sessions
                Attendance: No absence is allowed without prior permission. In case this rule is violated, the faculty member reserves the right to debar the student from attending future classes. The student has to appreciate that classes are not all about disjoint stories but have logical sequencing and high degree of interdependence. Please further appreciate that if any student misses classes on genuine medical ground or exigency in the family like death or some other mishap, I would like to take additional sessions for him/her.
                Course Evaluation (Total 100 Marks)
                  It shall be done through term examinations and quizzes. All quizzes will be under closed book system. All term examinations will be under open book system. The students can carry handouts given and their class notes to the examination hall in case of term examinations. Weightage for different components is as under.

                        The quizzes will be objective in nature. Marks secured by the student in all quizzes will be added and converted to 50% weighted mark on a scale of 100.
                          END TERM
                          The duration shall be for 2 hours. The questions will be a mix of numerical problems and caselet/case.
