2. Course Overview: Human behavior in organizations is complex and a difficult phenomenon to comprehend. Understanding why people behave in a particular way in a work setting irrespective of the type of organization, would be the main focus of this course. Organization behavior is all about knowing the reasons behind people’s behavior in organizational setting.

3. Course Objectives: This course aims to improve ones understanding of human behavior in organizations and ones ability to lead people to achieve organizational objectives more effectively. The participants will acquire functional knowledge on organizational behavior for application in real-life managerial settings.

4. Andragogy: There will be 20 sessions of 90 minutes each for this course giving it a value of 3 credits. This course will be structured to make the students acquire practical skills relevant for managerial execution. Therefore, management skill builders, management exercises, role plays, case studies, and video inputs will be the main elements of course delivery. These will be supplemented with Instructor assigned readings and case studies. All the participants would me made to work in groups for all classes and assignments. Apart from these, the participants will also have to take up group project work through field visits.

5. Evaluation Scheme: Minimum Passing marks: 40 marks out of a total of 100. Any student not meeting this criterion will get an F grade. The main aim of evaluation will be to assess the capacity of the participants to apply the learnt skills.

Group Learning Presentations (GLP)30This would comprise of a class presentation for every group demonstrating their learning from skill builders and exercises. A group would comprise 6 members only.Each group would be assigned specific dates during the term.
Mid Term Examination30This would be a short examination comprising Multiple Choice Questions aiming at testing the conceptual clarity of the students.As per Dean (Acad) Office notification.
End Term Exam40At the end of the course a comprehensive examination will be conducted comprising the entire course covered in the term. The aim of this exam will be to assess the development of application skills from the course.Will be conducted at the end of the term between after 20th Dec 2011

7. Course Textbook: ORGB 2, 2nd Edition Debra L. Nelson - Oklahoma State University
This textbook will act the primary source of academic material and will be relevant for mid-term and end term examination. Apart from this, the course Instructor may provide additional reading materials as hard copy academic inputs. Students are also advised to make self-study of the concepts taught in class.

Dr. A. Dutta M.Com., PhD. is a Post Graduate in Business Finance from University of Calcutta and was awarded a Gold Medal for ranking first in the University and academic excellence. He completed his FPM from IIMT, specializing in Human Resource Management. Andrew was a Visiting Research Scholar to Bentley University, Massachusetts, USA IN 2004-05 where he developed his doctoral thesis in Information Systems under Dr. M. Lynne Markus. Before joining academics, Andrew worked in the advertising industry. He has publications in reputed national and international journals and edited books along with presentations in national and international conferences. Apart from teaching and research, Andrew is also involved in training in corporate and Government sector and providing consultancy through XIMB. Presently, he is the Admissions Coordinator in XIMB. He has conducted training programs for senior management level in reputed companies like Vedanta Aluminium, Paradeep Phosphates, NTPC, OTDC, CIFA, RWSS, Jindal Steel and Power Limited, Larsen and Toubro, NALCO, India Post, Assam Administrative Service, Bihar Administrative Service, JK Organization (EZ) and many others. He is also a Certified Assessment Center Assessor, Certified PCMM Assessor and Master Trainer for NACO-GFATM for HIV-AIDS counselors and Master Trainer for Dept. of Public Enterprises, Govt. of India for CSR training.
