1. Course Description
Good written communication contributes to the successful functioning of an organization, and to do so, equipping the students with necessary techniques and skills of written communication to inform, to inspire and enlist their activity and their willing cooperation in the performance of their jobs is necessary. Hence, the course is aimed at assessing the competence of the students in handling English to communicate their ideas and objectives; providing remedial measures to overcome their present handicap; introducing them to the styles and formats of business writing; developing a clear writing style: cogency of ideas; choice of effective words to compose letters; memoranda; agenda; meeting summaries; minutes; reports; or other forms of business correspondence.

Objectives:

1. To teach the students to convey the right message to the right person in a right context so as to translate the message into action effectively.
2. To teach the students to process the messages to fit any given audience.
3. To equip management students with business correspondence skills with special emphasis on formal business writings.
Teaching and learning methodology:

1. Written Communication is structured as a theory/practice course – the student learns by doing.
2. Students will carry out the assigned tasks both individually and in groups
3. Individual as well as group performance is part of the practical sessions, as they are based on the theoretical input
4. Students may be asked to resubmit, if need be, the corrected assignments.
