Scope: Transformational or transforming leadership is about leading by inspiration rather than leading through rewards and punishment. It involves exceptional form of influence that moves followers to accomplish more than what is usually expected of them.
Course description:
This course has been designed with an aim to discuss and disseminate some of the finer lessons of TL from the experiential and practicing world.
Course Objectives and Learning Goals: · To discuss on the overview of leadership models in general and transformational leadership in particular · To provide theoretical input and develop skills on the current developments in the domain of Transformational leadership · To assist the seekers to analyze the dimensions of TL and equip themselves to devise strategic methods to develop transforming skills
Class format: Focus is on the interactive sharing of knowledge and dialogue which involve lectures, case discussion, games, movie- analysis and exercises, backed by A/V Aid. The overall teaching strategy would be to stimulate the minds of the seekers. Hence this course demands the seekers to come with a prepared mind. Pre-reading is a must- as per the instructions and material provided in the course docket.
Evaluation Scheme:
A. Pop-up quiz = 20% B. Group Presentation = 15% C. Individual learning paper (Project) = 25% D. Class involvement =10% E. End –Term Examination =30% Quiz
There will be pop-up (sudden) quizzes MCQ type and pop-up small test/caselets(MCQ type) Total 4 tests-two each.
Assignment-Group Presentation:
Each group would be required to present a topic allotted by lottery method at least one week prior to the presentation - session 14th
Personal Learning paper:
A quality write write-up (neatly typed) between 2000 – 3500 words on any issue/ Topic related to extraordinary leadership behavior in organization need to be submitted to the concerned faculty.
Case analysis or real- life (experiential) notes can also be accepted. However, the participants are requested to take the confirmation -approval from the concerned faculty.
Course Involvement:
This course needs active participation and prior reading. Credits will be given on the basis of active and regular participation and involvement.
End term Examination:
Combination of MCQs(10marks) and Case / Caselets . ( 20 marks).

Leadership:Theory and Practice by Peter G. Northouse,Sage-Delhi
In addition to the recommended Text book you are required to go through classic articles on TL from the reference sources such as Harvard Business Review, Academy of Management and Leadership Quarterly etc. from time to time .
