Course Outline

The study of organizational behaviour is a function of multiple factors operating at three levels; individual, group and organization. The individual behaviour is the sum total of the influences he/she carries prior to joining the organization, attitudes and abilities resulting from the ongoing experiences in the organization and other influences flowing from the outside of the organization. Consequently a number of individual factors are studied with a view to enhancing explanation, prediction and control of human behaviour in organization.
II. Objectives · To provide an overview of the field of individual dynamics · To develop one's skills to understand the relationship between individual and organizational effectiveness · To develop one's skills to appreciate various theoretical generalizations relating to individual behaviour in organization · To help participants to objectively observe and analyze individual behaviour · To help participants to deal with problems arising out of individual deficits
III. Class Format
A combination of lectures, case analyses, group discussion, simulation sessions and students presentations would be used. The session outline lists the reading materials. Participants of the programmes are expected to sec through the materials prior to class sessions. The materials are intended to provide conceptual inputs.
IV. Evaluation Scheme
The following would be weight of system of the specific evaluation modality: A. Quiz 10 + 10 = 20% B. Assignment/Individual Presentation = 15% C. Personal learning Paper = 25% D. Class Involvement = 10% H. End-Term Examination = 30% V. Quiz
Dates: Session 6 & 10.
In addition to the recommended books participants are expected to see through some journals such as Vikalph and Harvard Business Review. The other supplementary reading materials listed in the context of course plan are also to be considered.
