Assignment 1 : SURF THE NET

This is a group assignment. You will work in the groups (of 6 members) that has been formed for you in the class. Each group has to submit one report.

SUBMISSION: The report should be in font Arial, size 11, 1.5 spacing, It should be in electornic form. Mail your reports to my Academic Associate, Ms. Pragyanshree Nayak.

DUE DATE : 1200 noon, Saturday, 2nd August 2008

Weightage : 15%

Your group is to take up a particular topic in HRM.

(A list of suggested topics is given at the bottom of this page. You are free to choose any other topic apart from the one's that have been suggested, but in such a case the group must get the topic approved by me. Finalise a topic and register it with Pragyan by 2nd July. Two groups cannot work on the same topic).

Find sites related to your selected topic on the net. Browse at least 30 sites and choose any 15 out of those. Explore these fifteen sites and write a report summarising the information/data you have found.

Your report should

1. Give the list of all 30 sites you browsed.

2. List the 15 sites you decided to review. Specify why you chose these 15 and why you rejected the others.

3. Break up the sites into different categories, eg. Consultancies, organizational experiences, research oriented, etc.

4. Summarize the information in each category. (If you are unable to do this, write a paragraph describing the main features of the site, for each of the 10 sites.)

5. Explain which audience/group the sites are aimed at or are most appropriate for and why, what is the purpose of the site, etc.

6. Include any other information you think is relevant/interesting.
