Term - II


We will start with the basic Computing Concepts – Basic Computer and Computing Systems, Operating Systems Concepts, and basic Networking Concepts.
Next, we will study some of the managerial problem solving and decision making exercises using EXCEL.
Next we will study some of the basic features of MS ACCESS as an example of using a database.

· Functional Units - CPU, Memory, I/O Units
· Classification of Computers – Palm PCs/PDA, Notebooks/Laptops, Desktops, Workstations, Servers, Mainframes and Super Computers
· Computing architecture
· Client server computing

Operating Systems Concepts:

· Introduction to OS Concepts
· Process Subsystem – Process Scheduling

Networking Concepts:

· Networking – fundamental concepts
· OSI Model
· TCP/IP

Excel:

· Basic Spreadsheet Concepts
· Managing and Editing Workbook and Files
· Advanced Worksheet Editing
· Entering Formulas
· Excel Functions
· Worksheet Formatting
· Creating Charts
· What-if Analysis using One-Input and Two-Input Data Tables
· Scenarios
· Managing Lists – Sorting, Filtering Lists, Database Functions
· Decision making, forecasting and other applications of Excel
· Intro to MS ACCESS
