A survey of management information systems topics ranging from definition to strategic impact upon a firm including its role, processes and culture. Enhancing decision making, and some specific applications of MIS will be of special importance. The course will be based on conceptual treatise as well as practice/presentation sessions, which will give you the necessary experience of practicing MIS.

Course Guidelines
Your attitude toward learning the course material will influence your performance. The skills you will acquire in this course will be useful no matter what career you choose. You are responsible for all of the materials covered in class and in the textbook.
You are free to meet your instructor in connection with homework assignments and to clarify any concepts from the lecture during office hours.
If you have missed class DO NOT come to the office for a private lecture.

All homework/ group assignments will be on the CourseWeb. Assignment submissions are due at the beginning of class. Late work will not be accepted under any circumstances! All assignments must contain the following information:

You will not indulge in any disruptive activities like gossips, during the class lecture and discussions/presentations. These WILL NOT be tolerated. If I discover any such activity, you WILL be asked to leave the classroom.
Students not attending class are responsible for the class coverages and announcements, if any.
Examinations
There will be a midterm and final examination in this course. No makeup exams will be given under any circumstances!
Group Presentations and Reports
There will be atleast 3 presentations for each group. The reports for presentations should be submitted in hard copies too. Your presentation should summarize your team’s work and findings and involve the class in discussion. Presentations should be between 10 and 15 minutes in length MAXIMUM!
You will be stopped after 15 minutes. All team members should participate. Remember to be creative! Please plan your time wisely.
In grading the presentations and reports, I will look for originality, presentation style, ability to generate a class discussion, enthusiasm, and the demonstration of a clear understanding of the management information systems principles in the team findings. The rest of the class will come fully prepared to participate in the discussions and contribute to the learning process.

Class Participation
MIS is evolving concept, class participation is essential to the success of the class. Obviously, you must attend classes in order to participate. Participation does not necessarily mean constantly trying to answer questions, but provide meaningful contribution to the class through comments and discussion. Attendance will also be used to decide on the grades for your class participation component.
