Objectives

The emphasis of this course is threefold:

(1) understanding the importance using information technology to the success of organizations;

(2) the use of information technology to achieve competitive advantage; and

(3) the use of personal computers and how they are used as tools to improve problem-solving and productivity.

This course provides conceptual background for understanding the rationale behind building computer-based information systems, especially information systems that support the decision making activities within an organization.

Project

Every student must complete a final project. You will use all of the tools you have to learned and bring them together in one final project. The project consists of writing a 10 page paper describing your organization, how it is using information technology and suggest ways in which IT could be used to compete more effectively. You may be required to present your project to your classmates and instructors.
