First Letter from Fr. C. L. George
25 Oct 2002
Dear Friends,
As you all probably know, both Fr. Abraham and I have been associated with XIMB right from its inception. We spent 4 most important years of our lives at XIMB to build up this institute in its initial stage. They were difficult years because there was practically nothing when we came here in 1986. However today we feel most happy because XIMB has been ranked as one of the top ten Business Schools in the country.
Unfortunately, we had to leave XIMB in 1990 because of urgent need elsewhere. When we were here, we had a great dream of building XIMB into one of the top business schools in the country. We had planned to put up more infrastructural facilities like tennis courts, a gymnasium, a Management Development Centre, an auditorium, more state-of-the-art classrooms and faculty offices in order to make XIMB a top class Business School and provide all facilities for faculty, staff and students to work and live comfortably.
Our most important concern has always been to create facilities for students to excel in their academic pursuit. Therefore, we were very unhappy when we had to leave the Institute in 1990. We have a soft corner for XIMB. Hence, the moment we got a chance to leave XLRI, we took the opportunity and joined XIMB again. Several things have happened since then. We have managed to put up two flood-lit tennis courts as per international specification. We have just finished the construction of an excellent residential facility for Management Development Programmes. You are most welcome to stay there when you visit Bhubaneswar. It has 34 double-seated air-conditioned rooms with 24 hours internet connection, 3 suites, one recreational center and a billiard room. Several people have helped us to put up these facilities. Recently, the Executive Board of Association of Indian Management Schools had their board meeting at XIMB. Several directors of IIMs and other business schools came for this meeting. All of them said that our MDC facilities are one of the best in the country. Come and see for yourselves !!!
When the construction of the Management Development Centre was completed, several faculty, staff, alumni and students told us about the urgent need for an auditorium where faculty, staff and students can gather as a family for lectures, conferences and entertainments. With the support of the Governing Board, we have taken up the challenge of building this auditorium-cum-classroom complex with zero resources.
The total project cost will be Rs. 2 crores. The total built up area is 22500 sq.ft.
Ground floor (10,000 sq.ft.): 2 large classrooms; 10 seminar and other rooms
First floor (12,500 sq.ft.): Auditorium (850 seats)
We have already started the construction and hope to complete it by March 2003 for the Annual Convocation.
We have approached several industrialists through letters and personal contacts for financial help for the construction of this auditorium. We are approaching you with the same request to finish the job. Your contribution, however small it may be, will help us immensely to complete the auditorium-cum-classroom complex and take the institute to further heights. We are confident that all of you will contribute generously to see that this dream project is completed. It was also decided that the names of all the alumni who contributes Rs. 10,000 and above will be displayed on a plaque in front of the auditorium.
For the front elevation of the auditorium, please check our website.
Wishing you God’s abundant blessings for a wonderful celebration of the festival of lights,
Your Sincerely,
Fr. C.L. George, sj

Second Letter from Fr. C. L. George
25 Nov 2002
Dear Friends,
I am touched by the overwhelming response, I received, to my letter requesting financial help for the construction of our auditorium. On behalf of XIMB, I thank you most sincerely for your generous contribution towards this dream project. I am sure, with your generous help we will complete the auditorium. The architect and the contractor are working hard to complete the auditorium in time for our annual convocation in March 2003.
I have received several queries regarding (1) amount, (2) bank details.
1. Amount:
In my letter I have mentioned that if you pay Rs 10,000/- or more your name will be placed on the plaque in front of the auditorium. This does not mean that we will not accept anything less than Rs 10,000/-. The Institute will accept whatever you give, however small it may be, towards this project.
2. Bank Details:
a. UTI Bank Ltd. S.B. A/C. No. 84039 for Indian Currency.
b. UTI Bank Ltd. S.B. A/C. No. 89690 for Foreign Currency.
I have posted the latest pictures of the auditorium on our website for your information. I will keep you informed of the progress of the auditorium.
Once again I thank you all for your generous help and wish you God's abundant blessing.
Sincerely yours,
Fr. C.L. George, sj

Third Letter from Fr. C. L. George
25 February 2003
Dear Friends,
I am happy to inform you that the construction of the Auditorium is almost over. It will be inaugurated on 10 March 2003 by Sri Kumar Mangalam Birla. Sri Birla is also the Chief Guest for the Convocation.
Although the construction of the Auditorium is over, we have not yet paid all the bills. As given in my 1st letter:
| Total Project Cost | Rs 2,00,00,000 | |
| Deficit | Rs 80,00,000 | |
| Donations Received | Rs 3,14,202 |   (20 alumni have donated so far!) |
| Donations Pledged | Rs 20,00,000 | |
 | | |
That leaves us a shortage of Rs 56,85,798/-. I am counting on your generous help.
As decided, we will display the names of the alumni donating Rs 10,000/- or more on the plaque in front of the Auditorium. However, we will accept whatever amount you send towards this dream project of the Institute.
You can send the draft in favour of "Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar" and send it to Dean (Administration & Finance), Xavier Institute of Management, Xavier Square, Bhubaneswar 751013 OR you can transfer the amount online (Electronic Fund Transfer) to Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar Account:
a. UTI Bank Ltd. S.B. A/C No. 0240101000 84039 for Indian Currency
b. UTI Bank Ltd. S.B. A/C. No.0240101000 89690 (Swift Code: UTIBINBB024) for Foreign Currency
Once again wish you, your family and your organization God's blessings.
Sincerely yours,
