The Campus Recruitment Programme (CRP 2003) kicked off on 9 January. A total of 42 companies have offered jobs so far. We must be thankful to everyone who helped us achieve this in an otherwise difficult year. The contributions of our Placement Office, the students' team helping the Placement Office, and the alumni who came forward to participate in one way or another, are wothy of praise.
Of a batch of 123 students, 3 were on leave from their employers and 120 were to be placed. The number of jobs offered till now is 110. The figure of hundred percent placement is the obvious goal. The Institute has sought professional assistance from Fortuna Consultants, a premier recruitment agency based in Hyderabad, to supplement the efforts of the Placement Office to reach this goal.
CRP 2003 has triggered some serious reflection on our placements. An institute of such stature should not actually be struggling to place some of the sharpest minds in the country. Another area of concern has also been a noticeable shift in the areas of recruitment. While the previous years saw a healthy representation from the entire spectrum of functional areas, this year saw a discernible surge in the number of Marketing jobs. A distant second was Systems. Jobs in Finance, HR, and Operations were rare.
All possible avenues need to be explored to get more companies participating in our placement programme. XIMB has excellent brand equity in the market. While we must keep improving on it in every possible way, we must also ensure a steady and strong support from the senior members of our community, namely the faculty-members and the alumni.
The future holds great promises for the Institute, but the present calls for building new bridges and charting new waters!
