7 Jan 2003 XIMB CONDUCTS ITS FIRST RESEARCH APTITUDE TEST |
The test was completely designed in-house and was thoroughly appreciated by the candidates. In their feedback, one of the candidates wrote, “It is a great endeavour to have a separate test for selecting scholars for FPM. The questions are also very relevant to the objectives of the test.” Another candidate who took the test was of the opinion that the test was “well designed to evaluate and search for the ‘real’ research scholar.” Based on their performance in this test as well as their academic record, professional background, work experience, publications, etc., short-listed candidates will be invited for a seminar and a personal consultation at XIMB. |

9 Nov 2002 XIMB TO START ITS FELLOW PROGRAMME IN 2003 |
The programme is designed to provide a rich exposure to the methodological issues in management research, apart from the necessary subject-specific training. The research scholars will have to attend Research Training Seminars round the year. In-depth knowledge in the area of research selected by the student will be imparted through intensive Research Review Seminars. Students will also benefit from a Pedagogical Training component. The Fellow Programme is oriented towards developing transferable research skills. This paves way for all research enthusiasts to undertake research in management that has both practical relevance and academic rigour. This programme will equip them to take up a career in teaching, training, research and consultancy. The selection for this programme will be based on the XIMB Research Aptitude Test (XIMB-RAT), to be held on 5 January 2003 in some selected centres. More detailed information on this is available at the Institute’s website: http://www.ximb.ac.in |
22 Oct 2002 XIMB RANKED 9TH IN THE BUSINESS INDIA B-SCHOOL SURVEY-2002 |
The Survey says that institutes “are also investing heavily in Internet connectivity – taking it to even students hostel.” It is worth recalling that XIMB pioneered in providing such a facility way back in 1998 not only to the students’ hostel, but also to the faculty residences. The Institute has both a well-developed infrastructure and a highly qualified and committed faculty to impart management education, conduct management development programmes and contribute through research in the field of management. Commenting on the Business India Survey – 2002 ranking, XIMB Director Fr. E. Abraham said, “I am happy to see that our Institute has retained its 9th position in the country this year too. Well, with the quality of our faculty, staff and students, and the state-of-the-art infrastructure, we certainly deserve to be among the best 10.” He believes that XIMB has immense potential to excel and improve the ranking in future. |

3 Oct 2002 XIMB HOLDS MINDSQUEEZE 2002 |
Corporate participants were drawn from UTI Bank, Infosys, and Satyam Computers. Students from the College of Engineering and Technology (CET) also participated in the quiz. The contestants were short-listed for the final event on the basis of an online preliminary round. The team from CET secured the first position. The second and the third positions went to Infosys and XIMB respectively. What was most remarkable about this event was the kind of response it generated from the audience. Organizing such events is almost second nature to XIMB students. It was yet another step towards forging industry-academia interface and building a mutually beneficial long-lasting relationship. |
