About Social Entrepreneurship

Social entrepreneurs are creative and self-driven individuals, who believe in the power of new ideas. They bring such ideas to people at large and thus create a momentum towards a meaningful change in society. In the process, some of the dysfunctional aspects of society may be destroyed, making space for innovative and effective practices to grow. This process is referred to as "creative destruction." Even a single social entrepreneur can make a significant difference. There are several examples of this in fields such as agriculture, business, community development, education, etc.

Research on social entrepreneurship can focus on its impact, its role in the "citizen sector" especially in rural development, the process of "creative destruction," indicators of effective social change, and odds against social entrepreneurship.
