Doctoral-Level Fellow Programme in Management @ XIMB


How to Reach XIMB

Xavier Institute of Management is a well-known landmark in Bhubaneswar. The XIMB campus is about 7 km from the Bhubaneswar railway station. After coming out of the railway station through PF#1, climb the stairs and find the three-wheeler stand. Three-wheelers charge around Rs 60 to "Xavier campus" (near Fortune Tower).

From the Biju Patnaik Airport in Bhubaneswar, XIMB is about 12 km. There is a prepaid taxi counter in the arrival lounge. Prepaid taxis will charge Rs 170 to XIMB. Pay the driver after you reach the destination. Three-wheelers are not available from the airport.

Once you reach the main gate of the campus, you have to proceed towards the MDC Guest House. Staff in the MDC Guest House will guide you to ExPGP Hostels, where accommodation has been arranged. (All sessions will happen in one of the MDC Training Halls.)

Following the success of the Doctoral Summer Schools in 2005 and 2006, we are proposing to hold a similar 1-week event in June 2007. This year's summer school would be targeted towards doctoral students in management and related fields who are in the proposal and pre-proposal stages of their dissertation and individuals who aspire to do a doctoral programme in the future. The focus of DSS 2007 would be on "Fundamentals of Management Research."

Objectives
Overall: To prepare for one's growth as a competent and innovative researcher in management or a related field.
Supporting: (a) to be exposed to the forms of thinking and practice associated with doing research, (b) to appreciate the key issues and challenges of management research, (c) to learn about the considerations for designing and planning a research project, (d) to familiarise oneself with various tools and methods of research relevant to management, (e) to appreciate some of the behavioural skills relevant for management researchers, and (f) to learn about academic writing and the peer review process.

  • Please send an e-mail to both the convenors introducing yourself and describing your interest in DSS 2007.
  • After receiving the convenor's confirmation, please make a bank draft in favour of "Xavier Institute of Management" payable at Bhubaneswar, for the appropriate participation fee (INR 3,000 for students and INR 9,000 for those in employment; the fee includes registration, accommodation, and boarding--for non-residential participants, the fee would be INR 3,000 for students and INR 7,500 for those in employment). Foreign participants are requested to contact the Convenors for separate registration details.
