Doctoral-Level Fellow Programme in Management @ XIMB


How to Reach XIMB

Xavier Institute of Management is a well-known landmark in Bhubaneswar. The XIMB campus is about 7 km from the Bhubaneswar railway station. After coming out of the railway station through PF#1, climb the stairs and find the three-wheeler stand. Three-wheelers charge around Rs 60* to "Xavier Institute" (which is near Fortune Tower).

From the Biju Patnaik Airport in Bhubaneswar, XIMB is about 12 km. There is a prepaid taxi counter in the arrival lounge. Prepaid taxis will charge around Rs 170* to XIMB. Three-wheelers are not available from the airport.

Once you reach the main gate of the campus, you have to proceed towards the MDC Guest House. Staff in the MDC Guest House will guide you to the Executive Hostel, where accommodation has been arranged. (All sessions will be held in one of the MDC Training Halls.)

The summer school is targeted towards doctoral students in management and related fields who are in the proposal and pre-proposal stages of their research. Persons aspiring to enroll in a doctoral programme in the near future are also welcome to attend. The focus of DSS 2008 would be on the use of models in research.

Objectives
Overall: To understand the use of models in research and prepare for innovative designs of model-based research in management and related fields.
Supporting: (a) to become aware of some of the key issues and challenges of doing management research, (b) to examine research as a process, especially as viewed from alternative standpoints, (c) to appreciate the diverse roles played by models in the research process, (d) to learn some of the approaches and methods followed in model-based research, and (e) to learn about various practical elements important in doctoral research.

  • After receiving a confirmation from any one of the convenors, please make a bank draft in favour of "Xavier Institute of Management" payable at Bhubaneswar, for the appropriate participation fee (INR 4,000 for full-time students and INR 8,000 for those in employment). The fee includes lodging and boarding. Foreign participants are requested to contact the convenors for separate registration details.
  • Please send a covering letter (and the payment) to the address given at the end.
